Montpellier forward Ifeoma Onumonu is a major doubt for Nigeria’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) quarter-final showdown against Zambia’s Copper Queens.
The 31-year-old striker reportedly sat out training on Wednesday due to an injury, casting uncertainty over her availability for the crucial fixture.
Onumonu has featured just once for the Super Falcons at the ongoing 2024 WAFCON in Morocco, playing 54 minutes in Nigeria’s goalless draw against Algeria last Sunday.
Her potential absence would be a blow for head coach Randy Waldrum as the Falcons prepare to face a resilient Zambian side in a battle for a semi-final spot.
The match is scheduled to take place at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Friday.
This will be only the second WAFCON meeting between Nigeria and Zambia, adding further intrigue to what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter.
