AS Monaco have confirmed the season-long loan signing of 22-year-old Spanish forward Ansu Fati from FC Barcelona, with an €11 million option to buy at the end of the 2025–26 campaign.
As part of the deal, Fati has extended his Barcelona contract until June 30, 2028, allowing Barca to retain a long-term stake in his future.
Born in Guinea-Bissau and raised in Spain, Fati emerged from Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, debuting at just 16. He holds the distinction of being Barcelona’s youngest scorer in La Liga and the youngest ever goal scorer in the UEFA Champions League.
He ha over 123 appearances for the Catalan giants, he recorded 29 goals and claimed La Liga titles in 2023 and 2025, along with two Copa del Rey triumphs.
After a disrupted 2024–25 season, limited to just 11 appearances and no goals due to persistent injuries, Fati aims to reignite his career in Monaco.
His previous loan to Brighton resulted in four goals across 27 matches.
Financially, Monaco will cover half of Fati’s salary next season, saving Barcelona an estimated €7–8 million, while also removing him from their wage bill for the duration of the loan.
Monaco have integrated Fati into their summer rebuild alongside new signings Eric Dier and Paul Pogba, with all three set to be presented to the media together later this week.
Ansu Fati is expected to wear the No. 31 jersey during his time in Ligue 1.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick and club officials hope the loan move provides Fati with consistent playing time and a lower-pressure environment to regain fitness and confidence.
Monaco, targeting a strong domestic season and Champions League push, will rely on Fati’s pace and technical ability to boost their attacking options
