Maddison reportedly out till next season

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison is set to have a spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury against Bodo/Glimt last week.

Reports say that Maddison was almost certain to miss the final weeks of this season -including a potential Europa League final.

That remains the case, and it is understood Maddison’s recovery time is expected to take up to three months, leaving him at risk of missing some of Spurs’ build-up to the 2025-26 campaign.

However, Maddison will not require surgery to repair his injured knee and if all goes according to plan with his rehabilitation, the 28-year-old England midfielder will be fit for the start of next season.

The lay-off arrives as a major blow to Tottenham and Maddison, who has suffered different from fitness issues this season.

It also means Tottenham’s head coach Ange Postecoglou won’t have an important player at his disposal at his as the team enters the business end of the season.

Although their Premier League campaign has been one to forget and a finish at the bottom half of the table certain, Tottenham are well placed to reach the Europa League final as they prepare to face Bodo/Glimt on Thursday in the semi-final second leg.

That competition offers them the chance to lift a trophy and earn a place in next season’s Champions League.

England international Maddison scored in last week’s 3-1 first-leg win over the Norwegian side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
