Rasheedat Ajibade to leave Atletico after expiration of contract

Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade is set to leave Atletico Madrid Femeni at the end of the season as she is not expected to sign a new contract to extend her stay with the Spanish side.

The 25-year-old Nigeria international has been a vital cog in the wheel of the Spanish La Liga club for the last couple of years, scoring an impressive tally of 40 goals in 136 appearances.

In the current campaign, Ajibade has continued her fine form, contributing six goals and three assists in 19 matches as Atletico Madrid sit third in La Liga Femeni after 27 games played.

According to reports in Spain, the forward will depart Atletico Madrid, with her contract set to expire in the summer, with the club already making moves to secure a replacement.

Ajibade has reportedly been linked with a move to the USA’s National Women’s Soccer League, where her Super Falcons teammate Asisat Oshoala currently plays after leaving Barcelona.

The USA’s NWSL has been attracting several top female footballers in recent months, and Ajibade is expected to join the growing list of players to make the jump.
