Japan has now made eight consecutive final appearances after defeating Bahrain 2-0 in Saitama on Thursday, becoming the first nation to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
The 2026 tournament, which will take place in the US, Mexico, and Canada, will be the first to feature 48 teams, as opposed to the previous 32 in 2022.
