Team Nigeria athletes were in their colourful attire at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Paralympics Game. Nigeria will feature in four categories, consisting of Para-Athletics, Para-Badminton, Para-Powerlifting and Para-Table Tennis. The 2024 Summer Paralympics officially commenced in Paris with an opening ceremony at the Place de la Concorde.
The Paralympic Games opening ceremony is officially opened, slated to run from 28th August 2024 – 8thSeptember 2024, as athletes across the globe celebrate through the delegations parade on the Champs-Elysees and Place de la Concorde. Team Nigeria’s parade was led by Lauritta Onye, a shot put athlete, who served as the nation’s flagbearer.
Team Nigeria has established itself as a strong contender, since participating in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Over the years, the country has accumulated 80 medals—40 gold, 19 silver, and 21 bronze. As they prepare for Paris, the athletes are supported by seven coaches and five medical personnel. We are hopeful that Team Nigeria Paralympians will bring home more medals from Paris.
