Amanda Staveley, ex Newcastle co-owner is reportedly eyeing stake in another Premier League club.
Staveley expressed her disappointment and the desire not to hinder Newcastle’s progress after she and husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi sold their six percent stake in the Magpies to the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the Reuben family in July amidst internal fall outs.
The couple had previously played a pivotal role in facilitating the landmark £305 million Saudi-backed takeover of Newcastle in 2021, ending Mike Ashley’s unpopular 14-year tenure at the club.
The Sun reported that the 51 year old British business executive is weighing up an offer as she plans in acquiring a stake in Tottenham. She is reportedly backed by a group of investors, including some from the Middle East, who are willing to provide significant funding.
In bid to achieve this, Amanda Staveley has gone ahead to establish a new consortium of investors and aims to secure an initial stake in Spurs.
Tottenham’s current value is approximately at £2.42 billion ($3.2 billion) as evaluated by Forbes. If Staveley intends to purchase a 25% stake in the club, it would cost roughly £605 million as she has reportedly already raised £500 million through her investment fund, PCP Capital Partners.
The outlet suggests that the investors will subsequently seek to increase their stake in the north London club.
Notably, Tottenham was acquired by ENIC Group (English National Investment Company) in In 200, with Joe Lewis’s family trust becoming the majority shareholder but Joe has since been ejected as one with a superior power of decision following the19 counts of insider trading charges which he pleaded guilty to in a US Court earlier this year.
Chairman Levy is open to welcoming new investors on board as well as selling a stake in the club, so Amanda’s interest looks likely to be pursued further if all parties involved comes to a consensus.
